This easy, homemade hemp milk is creamy, nutty and delicious!

Better tasting and better for you than any store bought alt milk on the shelves!
This nourishing homemade hemp milk recipe is a staple in our household. A delightful and nutrient-packed alternative to traditional dairy and other plant-based milks. Packed with complete proteins, a balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and essential vitamins and minerals, this versatile milk not only supports heart and brain health but also promotes overall well-being.
Store bought alt milks often contain thickening agents, added sugars, and synthetic stabilizers that can be sneaky gut disruptors. That could lead to all sorts of downstream issues like digestive disturbances and exacerbating existing intolerances. They also can compromise the nutritional value of the milk, and alter the taste. So, yes - it's worth it to make your own!
This recipe is ideal for those seeking an easily digestible, and eco-friendly milk option, hemp milk is perfect for smoothies, cereals, baking, or simply enjoying by the glass. We use it every day to make the most delicious protein shakes (which is my favorite part of the day now, yum!)
Homemade Hemp Milk
Ingredients
1 cup of Hemp Hearts
7-8 cups water
1 Medjool date (optional for sweetness, or add 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup)
pinch of Pink Himalayan or Sea Salt
Directions
Add all ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend on high until fully incorporated, about 1 minute.
Taste test with a spoon for flavor/sweetness. Add more dates, salt, or vanilla as needed.
If you like a thinner consistency, you can strain through a nut milk bag (I have used a 125 micron nut milk bag).
Transfer to a sealed container and store in the fridge. It will keep in the refrigerator up to 5 days (sometimes more). Enjoy cold, and shake well for best results.
